JACKSON -- John Farrow Jr., 72, of the Indian Creek area near Jackson died Friday, Feb. 14, 1997, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born Aug. 15, 1924, in Cape Girardeau County, son of John Henry and Lillie Kramer Farrow. He and Ella Mae Bennett were married April 8, 1942. She died May 28, 1974. He later married Joan McClard Dec. 18, 1979...

JACKSON -- John Farrow Jr., 72, of the Indian Creek area near Jackson died Friday, Feb. 14, 1997, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 15, 1924, in Cape Girardeau County, son of John Henry and Lillie Kramer Farrow. He and Ella Mae Bennett were married April 8, 1942. She died May 28, 1974. He later married Joan McClard Dec. 18, 1979.

Farrow was a towboat engineer 35 years and had been involved with commercial fishing. He helped transport the Apollo 8 spacecraft prior to its flight. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, John, Stanley and Samuel Farrow, all of Jackson, and David Farrow of Randles; two daughters, Brenda Farrow of Cape Girardeau and Martha Johnson of Jackson; a stepson, Gregory Cotner of San Antonio, Texas; two stepdaughters, Vicki Hill of Little Rock, Ark., and Cynthia Sprigg of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Lyman Farrow of Jackson; three sisters, Viola Sneed and Delia Terry of Cape Girardeau and Dora McLain of Jackson; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and four great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and three grandchildren.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Charles Kauffman, Grant Lund and Roland Wagner officiating. Burial will be in McLain's Chapel Cemetery at Indian Creek.
