Ruth Evelyn David Evers, 85 of 1503 Briarcliff, Cape Girardeau, Mo., formerly of Pulaski County, Illinois, died Saturday, May 3, 1997 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born December 11, 1911 near Joppa, Illinois. She was the daughter of Mabel Nix David and Benjamin Fredrick David. She married Harry Owen Evers, Sr. in 1932. Owen, a well-known Pulaski County educator and radio announcer, preceded her in death on September 23, 1979...

Ruth Evelyn David Evers, 85 of 1503 Briarcliff, Cape Girardeau, Mo., formerly of Pulaski County, Illinois, died Saturday, May 3, 1997 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born December 11, 1911 near Joppa, Illinois. She was the daughter of Mabel Nix David and Benjamin Fredrick David. She married Harry Owen Evers, Sr. in 1932. Owen, a well-known Pulaski County educator and radio announcer, preceded her in death on September 23, 1979.

Mrs. Evers was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mound City, Il. She was a past member and state officer of the Women's Society of Christian Service, a past member of Mound City Woman's Club, Senior Citizens, Mound City Civic and Historic Society, Olmsted Historic Society, and Southern Illinois Genealogical Society. She and her husband, Owen, were active in educational activities and enjoyed genealogical and historical work. Mrs. Evers will be remembered for her sweet spirit of caring about others.

Survivors include three sons, Harry Owen Evers, Jr. and wife, Faye, of Pass Christian, Mississippi, Charles David Evers and wife, Betty Jo, of Casa Grande, Arizona, George Edward Evers and wife, Angie, of Villa Ridge, Illinois, one daughter, Martha Ellen Evers House, and husband, Ken, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., one brother, Donald David of McKenzie, Tenn., and one sister, Pat Wheeler of Fulton, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren David and Loren David, and two sisters, Verna Mae Boyd and Shirley David.

Her 15 great-grandchildren are: Jerrod and Lauren Gruber, Jacob Evers, Taylor and Caitlin Evers, Kelsey and Michelle Evers, D.J. Evers, Derrick, Landon and Ashley House, Lexi and C.J. Harper, and Kristi and Lindsey House. Mrs. Evers is survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Visitation will be from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening, May 6, 1997 at Barkett Funeral Home in Mound City, Il. Funeral services will be at 1:00 Wednesday afternoon, May 7, 1997 at the First United Methodist Church in Mound City. Burial will be at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge, Il.
