Hilda L. Scherer, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, May 18, 1997, at the home of a daughter in Perryville. She was born Feb. 27, 1907, at Glennon, daughter of Hugo and Zeta Stickler Hebenstreit. She and Felix Scherer were married Jan. 15, 1924, at Jackson. He died June 26, 1986...

Hilda L. Scherer, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, May 18, 1997, at the home of a daughter in Perryville.

She was born Feb. 27, 1907, at Glennon, daughter of Hugo and Zeta Stickler Hebenstreit. She and Felix Scherer were married Jan. 15, 1924, at Jackson. He died June 26, 1986.

Scherer was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include two sons, Owen Scherer of Jackson, Francis Scherer of Anna, Ill.; three daughters, Dolores Payne and Germaine Lynch of Cape Girardeau, Shirley Guard of Perryville; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, four brothers, two sisters, two grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent's Church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in St. Denis Cemetery at Benton.
