CHAFFEE -- Marietta A. Free, 71, of Chaffee, died Friday, June 6, 1997, at the Chaffee Nursing Center. She was born Aug. 6, 1925, at Chaffee, daughter of Arthur and Marie Elizabeth Lauer Free. Free worked as a secretary for Frisco Railroad in Chaffee and later retired as a secretary for Thorngate Ltd. in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chaffee...

CHAFFEE -- Marietta A. Free, 71, of Chaffee, died Friday, June 6, 1997, at the Chaffee Nursing Center.

She was born Aug. 6, 1925, at Chaffee, daughter of Arthur and Marie Elizabeth Lauer Free.

Free worked as a secretary for Frisco Railroad in Chaffee and later retired as a secretary for Thorngate Ltd. in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chaffee.

Survivors include two brothers, Emmett Free of Chaffee and Larry Free of Paway, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Funeral service will be Monday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Gerald Collier will officiate with burial in Memorial Park.
