BENTON -- Funeral Mass for Delphine Backfisch, Benton Route 1, will be held at 10 a.m. today at St. Denis Catholic Church. The Rev. Normand Varone will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel at Benton is in charge of arrangements.

Backfisch, 73, died Saturday, June 28, 1997, at her home.

She was born Sept. 24, 1923, at Kelso, daughter of Paul Joseph and Anna Helen Scherer Glastetter. She married Charles William Backfisch Sept. 14, 1943, at Kelso. He died Nov. 10, 1980.

Backfisch was a member of St. Denis Church and its St. Ann's Sodality.

Survivors include seven sons, Paul and Bob Backfisch of Scott City, Sylvester and Vernon Backfisch of Benton, Dennis Backfisch of Abilene, Texas, Carl and James Backfisch of Benton; five daughters, Jean Miller and Joyce Austin of Benton, Mary Farris of Thebes, Ill., Ruth Ann Gowin of Scott City, and Carol Lee of Chaffee.

Also surviving are four brothers, Bill and John Glastetter of Scott City, Sylvester Glastetter of Kelso, Louis Glastetter of Benton; five sisters, Aurelia Muster of Gordonville, Helen Vandeven of Leopold, Rita Kluesner of Chaffee, Coletta Neff of Waterloo, Ill., and Bertha Seyer of Dutchtown; 33 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
