CAIRO -- George F. Johnson, 80, of Cairo died Friday, July, 4, 1997, at his home.

He was born Feb. 22, 1917, in Cairo, son of George and Leona McNamara Johnson. He married Nelle Johnson of Cairo. She survives.

Johnson was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cairo and the Cairo VFW.

Survivors are a son, Scott C. Johnson of Hendersonville, N.C.; a daughter, Susan C. Johnson of Webster Groves; two sisters, Zita A. King of Cairo and Rose Lucille Johnson of Mounds; and two grandchildren.

There will be no visitation.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cairo, with the Rev. Jerome Fortenberry as celebrant. Burial will be during a private graveside service to be held at a later date.

The Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of arrangements.
