EDWARDSVILLE, Ill., -- Mearl S. Dickerson, 59, of Edwardsville and formerly of McClure died Saturday, Aug. 2, 1997, at his home. He was born May 28, 1938, in McClure, the son of Elmer and Marie Hutchison Dickerson. On May 1, 1938, he married Velma Stevens in Elco.
He worked for the water department of the city of Edwardsville for 21 years until his illness.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Beth Hileman of Jonesboro and Lisa Jorden of Edwardsville; two brothers, Robert and Elvis Dickerson of Edwardsville; and three grandchildren.
His parents, a brother and a sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones Funeral Home in Tamms.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cummins Cemetery near McClure.
