Funeral service for Bettye Jean Latimer of Santa Maria, Calif., was held Monday at St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Santa Maria. Burial was in Santa Maria City Cemetery.
Latimer, 64, died Friday, Aug. 1, 1997, in a Santa Maria hospital.
She was born May 22, 1933, at Marble Hill, daughter of Daniel Benjamin and Dora Welker Cobb. She and Lloyd Latimer were married Dec. 26, 1951.
Latimer was a graduate of Central High School in Cape Girardeau.
She was retired from the Santa Maria Public School System. She was a charter member of St. Andrew Church in Santa Maria, and member of the Elks Auxiliary there.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Watkins of Santa Maria; a son, Stephen Latimer of Santa Maria; two brothers, Clarence "Mose" Cobb of Cape Girardeau, John Cobb of Benton; three sisters, Verna Thompson of Jackson, Freida Schlimme and Virginia Buttry of Cape Girardeau; a half brother, Elzie "Jake" Cobb of Lakewood, Colo.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, parents, a sister, and two brothers.
