ALVIN SAUER

FRIEDHEIM -- Funeral service for Alvin Sauer of Friedheim will be held at 2 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Chapel in Jackson. The Rev. Wayne Palmer will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

Sauer, 97, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 1997, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 20, 1899, at Friedheim, son of John and Ida Kayser Sauer. He and Cora Stearns were married Oct. 20, 1921. She died July 6, 1991.

Sauer was a lifelong farmer in Friedheim. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Constance Detjen of Friedheim; a sister, Lorene Klaus of Friedheim; two granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and four sisters.
