ADVANCE -- John "Corby" Wiggins, 98, of Advance died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 1997, at his home. He was born April 19, 1899, at Buchanan, son of John I. and Amanda Jane Corbin Wiggins. He and Carrie Goodman were married June 8, 1918, in Advance. She died April 11, 1993...

ADVANCE -- John "Corby" Wiggins, 98, of Advance died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 1997, at his home.

He was born April 19, 1899, at Buchanan, son of John I. and Amanda Jane Corbin Wiggins. He and Carrie Goodman were married June 8, 1918, in Advance. She died April 11, 1993.

Wiggins was a retired farmer, and member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, F.E. "Bud" Wiggins of Advance; three daughters, June Ferrier and Martha Mitchell of Advance; Rose-Mary Rachel of Akron, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Clinton Woodfin and Larry Greenfield officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park.
