SCOTT CITY -- A memorial service for William A. Hopper of Lakeside, Ore., formerly of Scott City, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Lakeside Senior Center. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Scott City at a later date.
Hopper, 83, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 1997, in Monroe, Ore.
He was born July 15, 1914, in Dermott, Ark., son of William B. and Bridget Dailey Hopper.
Hopper served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include three daughters, Julia Young and Billie Fitzerof of Monroe, Biddy Ayres of North Bend, Ore.; two brothers, Ray Hopper of Louisville, Ky., Thomas Hopper of Scott City; four sisters, Alma Crader of Scott City, Martha Dunger of St. Louis, Willie Janesko of Waterloo, Ill., B. Rose Goehman of Cape Girardeau; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers, a sister, and a great-grandchild.
