JACKSON -- Louis A. "Bud" "Shorty" Loos, 76, of Jackson died Monday, Aug. 25, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 24, 1921, in Jackson, son of Louis G. and Ida Blackwell Loos. He and Mary A. Cathcart were married Jan. 22, 1954, at Jackson.

Loos was co-owner of Loos and Hoffmeister Construction, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission in Jackson many years, and had obtained his commercial pilot's license.

He was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ, VFW, and Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of American Legion Post 158, former post commander, served as commander of the 14th District, was past vice commander of the Eastern District, charter member and past commander of the honor guard.

Loos served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Louis "L.G." Loos II of Kirkwood, Robert Loos of Jackson; a daughter, Margaret Loos of Houston, Texas; a sister, Rika Mabrey of Cape Girardeau; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today. An honor guard service will be held at 7:30.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
