CHARLESTON -- Henry F. Barborek, 67, of Charleston died Friday, Aug. 29, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Dec. 13, 1929, at Russellville, Ark., son of Henry W. and Julia Prohoskie Barborek. He had lived in Charleston most of his life. He worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation for 20 years and then was employed for Girardeau Contractors for 13 years until his retirement in 1992...

CHARLESTON -- Henry F. Barborek, 67, of Charleston died Friday, Aug. 29, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 13, 1929, at Russellville, Ark., son of Henry W. and Julia Prohoskie Barborek.

He had lived in Charleston most of his life. He worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation for 20 years and then was employed for Girardeau Contractors for 13 years until his retirement in 1992.

A veteran of the Marine Corps, he served for two years during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of the Charleston VFW Post 4294 and attended Wyatt Baptist Church.

He married Nancy Dotson on April 10, 1954. She died on April 15, 1989.

On Aug. 3, 1995, he married Frances McDermott Wright.

Survivors include his wife, Frances; a son, Clifford Barborek of Sikeston; three daughters, Sandra Smoot of Charleston, Ruth Ann Barborek of East Prairie and Madeline Sue Barborek of St. Louis; a stepson, Calvis A. Wright of St. Louis; two stepdaughters, Kathy Conley of Henderson, Ky., and Alma Talley of Wickliffe, Ky.; two brothers, Tony Barborek of Sikeston and James Barborek of Exeter, Pa.; four sisters, Bessie Moore of Russellville, Rosie Jones of Muldrow, Okla., Emma Goolsby of The Dalles, Ore., and Mary Myers of St. Elmo, Ill.; and four grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Dean Wallace will officiate, with burial in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
