Vernetta L. Ford, 53, 2716 Oakshire Circle, died Sunday, April 6, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Dec. 28, 1943, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Clarence and Elva Gibson Rubel. She and Jack U. Ford were married June 12, 1965, in Cape Girardeau.

Ford was an associate with JCPenney Co. Inc. The Fords formerly owned Ford Furniture Co. at Chaffee. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and Ramblewood Garden Club.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Alicia Ford of Cape Girardeau; and a sister, June McElreath of San Francisco, Calif.

There is no visitation.

Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Mausoleum, with the Rev. Neil Stein officiating.

Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
