NEW MADRID -- Funeral service for Woodrow W. Parrish of Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau was held Monday at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.

Parrish, 81, died Friday, Oct. 17, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 2, 1916, at Farrenburg, son of William Alexander and Gertrude Parrish. His wife Frances died Aug. 9, 1995.

Parrish served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen Ward of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Sue Greganti of Memphis, Tenn., Bette Basham of Charlevoix, Mich.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers, and four sisters.
