SCOTT CITY -- Funeral service for Richard Lee Brant of Winfield, W.Va., was held Monday at Chapman Funeral Home in Winfield. The Revs. Art Hage and Harold Whitt officiated, with burial in Newsome Ridge Cemetery in Kermit, W.Va.

Brant, 54, died Friday, Oct. 17, 1997, at Memorial Division CAMC, following a lengthy illness.

He was born March 20, 1943, in Scott City, son of Woodson and Idalene Brant. He married Carol Newsome.

Brant was a graduate of Scott City High School, and served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was employed by Virginia Power and Transport, and was a member of Hurricane Bible Church. He had lived in West Virginia about 30 years.

Survivors include his wife; Two daughters, Marie Brant of Winfield, Lisa Brant of Wayne, W.Va.; a son, Ray Brant of Winfield; his mother, Idalene Head of Scott City; three brothers, Eddie Brant of Hampton, Va., Randy Brant of Weirton, W.Va., Larry Brant of Scott City; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.
