SIKESTON -- Henry Clayton Day, 87, of Sikeston, formerly of New Madrid County, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. He was born Sept. 28, 1910, in New Madrid County, son of John and Rhoda Cooper Day. He and Delphia Adams were married May 11, 1935. She preceded him in death July 25, 1989...

SIKESTON -- Henry Clayton Day, 87, of Sikeston, formerly of New Madrid County, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born Sept. 28, 1910, in New Madrid County, son of John and Rhoda Cooper Day. He and Delphia Adams were married May 11, 1935. She preceded him in death July 25, 1989.

He had lived in New Madrid County most of his life, moving to Sikeston in 1989. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Little Vine Baptist Church near Matthews.

Survivors include four sons, Alvin Day and Henry Clayton Day Jr., both of Fenton, John Charles Day of Downey, Calif., and Joe Day of Arnold; three daughters, Fay Byassee of East Prairie, Carolyn Hunt of Fenton and Doris Chunn of Sikeston; a brother, Charles Day of Sikeston; a sister, Eugenia Pritchett of East Prairie; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday at Shelby Funeral Chapel in East Prairie.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Bob Burnes officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery in East Prairie.
