J. ODELL WRATHER

ORAN -- J. Odell Wrather, 78, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Oran, died Friday, Jan. 12, 1996, at his home at 60 Saxony Village in Cape Girardeau.

He was born near Portageville Aug. 3, 1917, son of Benjamin and Icie Todd Wrather.

He married Julia Jane Utterback May 25, 1947. She survives.

He was a retired farmer in New Madrid County and later near Oran. He served four years in the Air Force in North Africa and Italy.

He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church at Oran. He served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member and was a member of the church board for more than 40 years. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by a son, Dr. Allen Wrather of Portageville; a daughter, Susan E. Nothdurft of Oran; a sister, Edna Euladean Holt, Portageville; and four grandchildren.

Service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Oran with the Rev. John Gregory officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. Bennie Wilsey. Burial will be in Portageville Cemetery.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.
