EAST PRAIRIE -- Norvel "Bob" Johnson, 96, of East Prairie died Friday, Jan. 12, 1996, at East Prairie Nursing Center. EAST PRAIRIE -- Norvel "Bob" Johnson, 96, of East Prairie died Friday, Jan. 12, 1996, at East Prairie Nursing Center.

He was born Jan. 1, 1900, at Marion, Ky., son of James T. and Janie Tinsley Johnson.

Johnson was a retired game warden and superintendent of Big Oak Tree State Park. He attended St. James General Baptist Church

He married Bessie E. Estes March 31, 1923. She died Dec. 24, 1986.

Survivors are two daughters, Faustine Hatley of East Prairie and Volley Jean Pepper of Coleman, Texas; three sisters, Violet Wallace of Anniston, Annie Ivie of Bertrand and Bertha Miller of Waterproof, La.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, four brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.

Service will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Brothers Mike Johnson and David Dowdy officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.
