SIKESTON -- Betty Penrose, 77, of Sikeston died Friday, Jan. 19, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center. She was born June 23, 1918, at Bowling Green, Ky., to James and Nettie Whitaker Jenkins. On March 3, 1951, she married Elmer Penrose Sr., who died Sept. 21, 1982. She married the Rev. John Beard on Jan. 25, 1995...

SIKESTON -- Betty Penrose, 77, of Sikeston died Friday, Jan. 19, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

She was born June 23, 1918, at Bowling Green, Ky., to James and Nettie Whitaker Jenkins.

On March 3, 1951, she married Elmer Penrose Sr., who died Sept. 21, 1982. She married the Rev. John Beard on Jan. 25, 1995.

Survivors are her husband; four sons, Elmer Penrose Jr. and Ronnie Penrose, both of Sikeston, and James Stout and John Stout, both of Kentucky; three daughters, Patricia Jackson of Seattle, Joann Cato of Sikeston and Laura Ellison of Texas; two sisters, Mae Jenkins of North Carolina and Josephine Jenkins of Kentucky; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services are at 10:30 a.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Sikeston. Burial will follow in Friends Cemetery at Oran.
