John McCarter III, 47, 327 Morgan Oak, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born Sept. 27, 1948, in St. Louis, son of John E. and Laura Largent McCarter II. He and Michele Young were married Dec. 31, 1990. McCarter was a 1967 graduate of Woodland High School at Marble Hill. He was a truck driver with C&G Trucking at Fruitland. John McCarter III, 47, 327 Morgan Oak, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 27, 1948, in St. Louis, son of John E. and Laura Largent McCarter II. He and Michele Young were married Dec. 31, 1990.

McCarter was a 1967 graduate of Woodland High School at Marble Hill. He was a truck driver with C&G Trucking at Fruitland. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1967-82.

Survivors include his wife; six sons, Johnny McCarter of Cape Girardeau, Bo Kato, Scott Mitchell and Jesse Gwin of Zalma, Sean Gwin of Farmington, Jimmy Gwin of Sacramento, Calif.; three daughters, Amanda McCarter of Cape Girardeau, Lalani Smith of California, Tina Ivy of Marble Hill; two brothers, Thomas McCarter of Sedgewickville, Michael McCarter of Danville, Ill.; two sisters, Laural McCarter of Poplar Bluff, Rory Houston of Oak Ridge, and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery, with graveside honor guard service by VFW Post 3838.
