Viola Amanda Reed of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 9, 1996, at her home. She was born April 6, 1914, in Gordonville to Ervin and Emilie Franck Vogelsang. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, the VFW Post 3838 Auxiliary, the St. Francis Medical Center Auxiliary and the Friends of St. Francis. She taught Sunday school at Trinity Lutheran and was a musician at the VFW post...

Viola Amanda Reed of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 9, 1996, at her home.

She was born April 6, 1914, in Gordonville to Ervin and Emilie Franck Vogelsang.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, the VFW Post 3838 Auxiliary, the St. Francis Medical Center Auxiliary and the Friends of St. Francis. She taught Sunday school at Trinity Lutheran and was a musician at the VFW post.

She had worked for the Royal N'Orleans restaurant, Sunny Hill, the Marquette Hotel and River Barge Lines.

Survivors are a son, John Reed of Cape Girardeau; four brothers, Ervin Vogelsang, Earl Vogelsang and Calvin Vogelsang, all of Cape Girardeau, and Robert Vogelsang of Farmington and Fort Meyers, Fla.; three sisters, Erma Oliver of Columbia, Vernice Baumstack of Cape Girardeau and Vera Phillips of Canton, Miss.; and a grandson.

She was preceded in death by a brother.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel in Cape Girardeau. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David V. Dissen officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
