ST. LOUIS -- Bernice Martin Whitledge, 84, died Thursday, March 21, 1996, at her home. She was born Sept. 25, 1911, in Norbor, the daughter of Lawrence C. and Ruth Henderson Martin. ST. LOUIS -- Bernice Martin Whitledge, 84, died Thursday, March 21, 1996, at her home.

She was born Sept. 25, 1911, in Norbor, the daughter of Lawrence C. and Ruth Henderson Martin. She married Herbert Whitledge in 1928.

Whitledge formerly was employed by Scrugg Vandivort Department Store in St. Louis and was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her husband; a son, George Whitledge of Webster Groves; a daughter, Pat Bruder of St. Louis; two sisters, Mildred Vangilder of Cape Girardeau and June Nothdurft of Jackson; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. today at Hoffmeister Funeral Home, 1515 LeMay Ferry Road in St. Louis.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
