Billy Eugene Harris, 69, 2214 Good Hope, died Friday, April 5, 1996, at his home. He was born May 9, 1926, at Malden, son of James R. and Lillie Mae Woolsey Harris. He and Mary E. Crites were married Jan. 27, 1951, at Kelso. Harris had been a truck driver more than 40 years, retiring in 1983. He had worked for 7-Up Bottling Co., Tucker Truck Lines and Inman Freight Systems. Billy Eugene Harris, 69, 2214 Good Hope, died Friday, April 5, 1996, at his home.

He was born May 9, 1926, at Malden, son of James R. and Lillie Mae Woolsey Harris. He and Mary E. Crites were married Jan. 27, 1951, at Kelso.

Harris had been a truck driver more than 40 years, retiring in 1983. He had worked for 7-Up Bottling Co., Tucker Truck Lines and Inman Freight Systems. He was a member of VFW Post 3838.

He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater with the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Victory, Good Conduct and Army of Occupation Medals.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Alex Harris of Jackson, Randy Harris of Mt. Vernon, Ill., Eddie Harris of Scott City; a daughter, Kathy Spies of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Cecil Harris of Seal Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Erma McLain of Cape Girardeau, Beulah Snyder of Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren, and three great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandchild.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Romain Morales officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
