Thayer L. Lewis, 87, of Cape Girardeau, died Wednesday, April 10, 1996, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born Sept. 4, 1908, at Fredericktown, son of Almon R. and Clara L. Haywood Lewis. He and Patricia Mae Seabaugh were married Oct. 4, 1940, in Cape Girardeau. She died Feb. 1, 1988.

Lewis grew up in Cape Girardeau and worked on the river 20 years. He moved to New Mexico and Texas and was a shift foreman with El Paso Natural Gas Co. 25 years, retiring in 1975. He moved back to Cape Girardeau in 1991 from Springfield, Ohio.

Survivors include two sons, Mark Lewis of Beale Air Force Base, Calif., Thomas Lewis of Universal City, Texas; a brother, Earl Lewis of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Ella Lynch of Cape Girardeau, Eula Young of Metropolis, Ill., and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 6-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Brant Hazlett officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
