JONESBORO, Ill. -- Otis E. Brown, 77, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, May 14, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 6, 1918, in Grand Tower, son of Ellis E. and Cora Freeman Brown. He and Wanda Stevens were married in 1975 in Anna.

Brown was a farmer, and had also been employed by Illinois Highway Department. He was a member of VFW Post 3455 and First Christian Church in Anna, and Jonesboro Masonic Lodge 111. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sue Cunningham of Omaha, Neb.; a son, Kenneth Brown of Como, Tenn.; a stepson, Steven Vaughn of Elgin; two stepdaughters, Carolyn LeMaster of Granite City, Peggy Williams of Lake Zurick; three sisters, Irene Eckert of Jacob, Ruth Shafer of Cape Girardeau, Edna Brackett of Springfield; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren, and two great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today. Masonic rites will be at 7.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Steve Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Walker Hill Cemetery, with military rites conducted by VFW Post 3455.
