Funeral service for William Lee "Bill" Kassel, 612 Emerald, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Louis Launhardt will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery at Jackson.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.

Kassel, 67, died Wednesday, May 15, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born May 8, 1929, in St. Charles, son of Charles and Etta Niswonger Kassel. He and Margaret Joerns were married May 12, 1956, in Cape Girardeau. She died March 17, 1986.

Kassel was a graduate of Central High School, and received a degree in structural engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla.

He was a retired watchmaker, owned Kassel Jewelers on Main Street three years, and had a contracting business in Cape Girardeau 20 years.

Survivors include a son, Billy Kassel of Nashville, Tenn.; two daughters, Peppie and Tammie Kassel of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Walter Kassel of St. Martin, Netherland Antilles; four sisters, Shirley Peat of Nashville, Hazel Cross of Sarasota, Fla., Irene Brandes and Leola Franke of Uniontown, and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
