EUGENE SOUTHARD

Funeral service for Eugene Lloyd Southard of Leavenworth, Kan., was held May 14 at Davis Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth. Burial was in Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Southard, 84, died Sunday, May 12, 1996, at Eisenhower VA Medical Center.

He was born July 6, 1911, at Broadway, son of John Clifford and Minnie Lee Givens Southard. He and Iris Dorine King were married March 1, 1948.

Southard had been a crew chief with Gustin-Bacon Manufacturing Co. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife of Lansing, Kan.; a daughter, Virgie Self of Lansing; two brothers, Carl Southard of Shawnee Mission, Kan., Elmer Southard of Jackson; two sisters, Muriel Kelley of Cape Girardeau, Pauline Schlueter of St. Louis, and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.
