Frank Alvin Brooks, 93, of Cape Girardeau and formerly of Olive Branch and Mound City in Illinois, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born March 12, 1903, at Metropolis, Ill., son of John and Ellen Garrett Brooks. His wife, Mary Emma Brooks, died in 1985.
Brooks worked as a contractor until he retired. He was a veteran of World War II and attended the Methodist church.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Young of Mound City and Sue Porter of Olive Branch; four sons, Charles Garrett of Villa Ridge, Ill., William Garrett of Nashville, Tenn., Harold Garrett of Columbia and David Garrett of Flagstaff, Ariz.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Barkett Funeral Home in Mound City.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Travis Rose Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the Mound City National Cemetery.
