MONETT -- Joe V. Kenney, 93, of Monett died Saturday, Aug. 3, 1996, at Monett Health Care Center in Monett following a lengthy illness.
Kenney was born June 29, 1903, at Rocky Comfort, son of William and Nancy Senters Kenney. He married Edith Long on Feb. 27, 1932, in Pineville.
He was an employee of the Frisco Railway for several years before joining the Monett Police Department from which he retired in 1968. He attended the Union Church in Stella.
He is survived by his wife; a son, James V. Kenney of Joplin; five daughters, Donna R. Palmer of Cape Girardeau, Carole Hukriede of Clinton, Leta Cole of Clovis, N.M., Joyce A. Chapman of Pierce City and Jolene Bremer of Monett; 20 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, seven brothers and a sister.
Family may call after 2 p.m. Monday at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Dick Palmer officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery at Stella.
