PULASKI, Ill. -- Funeral service for Freddie L. "Fred" Davis of Irving, Texas, was held Aug. 1 at Chism-Smith Funeral Home in Irving. Capt. Mike Grubbs officiated, with burial in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving.

Davis, 78, died Monday, July 29, 1996.

He was born June 30, 1918, in Pulaski. He was a graduate of Mounds High School, and Lockyear's Business College in Evansville, Ind.

Davis served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and also served in the Korean War with U.S. Military Intelligence. He retired from the military with the rank of captain.

He lived in Irving 50 years, and had worked at Texas Instruments 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, Coleta; two sons, Darrel and Gerald Davis; a daughter, Nancy Curtis; a stepson, Robert Sterling; two stepdaughters, Mary Ehrlich and Coleta Grubbs; a sister, Stella Hogendobler of Villa Ridge; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; stepgrandchildren, and great-stepgrandchildren.
