ADVANCE -- Thelma E. Umfleet, 79, of Advance, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 7, 1917, in Randles, daughter of William and Winnie Barker LaGrand. She and Lawrence Umfleet were married Feb. 12, 1935, at Benton. He died Aug. 14, 1982.

Umfleet attended First Baptist Church.

Survivors include seven sons, Kenneth Umfleet of Waldron, Ark., Bill Umfleet of St. Louis, Don Umfleet of Bell City, Larry Umfleet of Chaffee, Richard Umfleet of Lima, Ohio, Mike Umfleet of Monett, Dennis Umfleet of Granite City, Ill.; three daughters, Thelma Gabel of Belle, Vicki Phelps of Advance, Sue Thompson of Bennington, Vt.; two stepsons, Herman Umfleet of Advance, Cletus Umfleet of Farmington; a stepdaughter, Imogene DeLay of Advance; a brother, Vernon LaGrand of Chaffee; three sisters, Faye Heath and Marie Robinson of Chaffee, Elma Head of Flint, Mich.; 33 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, two stepsons and a stepdaughter.

Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park.
