BLOOMFIELD -- Steve L. Lewis, 95, of Bloomfield, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 1996, at Bloomfield.

He was born Aug. 31, 1900, in Bulgaria, son of Despa Vulcheff and Lazar Lazaroff. He married the former Jewell E. Moore in St. Louis. She died Dec. 7, 1990.

Lewis came to the United States in 1916 and worked for a railroad company in Montana. He later moved to St. Louis and was co-owner of Paulian Candy Shop many years. In 1940 he bought a farm in the Swinton community, and in 1965 sold the farm and retired to Bloomfield. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survivors include nephews and nieces, William Elmore and LaVern Smith of Bloomfield, Wade Moore of Advance, and Mary Ann Morton of Grand Junction, Colo.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home, with the Rev. Hank Foster officiating. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Friday.
