He was born Oct. 21, 1915, at Marble Hill, son of Charles Richard and Mary Ethel Bell Baker. He married Hazel Aline Ward at Fredericktown. She died July 2, 1937...

FREDERICKTOWN -- Joseph Marvin Baker, 80, of Fredericktown died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 1996, at Claru DeVille Health Care in Fredericktown.

He was born Oct. 21, 1915, at Marble Hill, son of Charles Richard and Mary Ethel Bell Baker. He married Hazel Aline Ward at Fredericktown. She died July 2, 1937.

Baker had worked in a machine shop and in construction. He was a member of Rhodes Chapel Methodist Church, IOOF Lodge 172, Masonic Lodges 80 and 100 AF&AM, and Bridgeton Order of Eastern Star 266. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Marvin Baker of Rusk, Texas; a brother, Rev. Charles Baker of Belle; four sisters, Ethel Baker and Mable Sample of Patton, Thelma Stone of Chaffee, Jane Barnes of Las Cruces, N.M.; two granddaughters; and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call at Follis-Sonderman Funeral Home in Fredericktown after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Stella Turner will officiate, with burial in Old Masonic Cemetery at Fredericktown.
