SIKESTON -- Buford B. Baber, 87, of Sikeston died Friday, Aug. 16, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 9, 1909, in Richmond, son of Harry C. and Fannie Mae Baldwin Baber.
He operated the Baber Feed and Seed Co. in Sikeston. He was a former member and past president of the Sikeston Kiwanis Club and a member and 32nd-degree Mason in the Sikeston Masonic Lodge 310 AF/AM. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
On Dec. 17, 1930, in Mexico, Mo., he married Margaret B. Baker, who died June 29, 1989.
He is survived by two sons, David Baber of Scott City and Buford Baber Jr., of Lenexa, Kan.; a daughter, Margaret Wood of El Paso, Texas; a brother, Harry Baber of Yountville, Calif.; and two sisters, Helen Jones of Visalia, Calif., and Callie Hugley of Austin, Texas; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Two brothers preceded him in death.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. Monday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the chapel, with the Rev. Fred Leist officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
