Lorene Drury, 96, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 1996, at her home.

She was born Oct. 16, 1899, in Erin, Tenn., daughter of John Robert and Lola Martha White Marable.

Drury worked at her family's Russell Hotel, and also taught fourth grade at Eugene Field School 10 years. She also had been assistant manager at George Washington Hotel in St. Louis, was head resident of a fraternity house at Arizona State University in Tempe, was house director for Delta Gamma Sorority at the University of Southern California-Santa Barbara, and was house director for Chi Omega Sorority at the University of Southern California-Los Angeles.

Drury had lived in Cape Girardeau since 1985.

Survivors include a nephew, Crawford Edwards of St. Louis; three nieces, Peggy White of Charleston, Jo Wheatly of Warren, Mich., and Martha Wilson of Sikeston.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Burial will be in the Marable plot at IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. to service time.
