CHARLESTON -- Clarence Shively, 76, of East St. Louis, Ill., died Thursday, Oct. 10, 1996, at St. Louis University Medical Center. He was born Feb. 24, 1920, at Charleston, son of Fred Nolen and Rose M. Dugan Shively. He and Lillie Britt were married March 17, 1947...

CHARLESTON -- Clarence Shively, 76, of East St. Louis, Ill., died Thursday, Oct. 10, 1996, at St. Louis University Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 24, 1920, at Charleston, son of Fred Nolen and Rose M. Dugan Shively. He and Lillie Britt were married March 17, 1947.

Shively worked at Terminal Railroad Co. in St. Louis, and at East St. Louis Public Works Department, retiring in 1970.

He was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1940-46 and received American Defense, Good Conduct, Liberation, Asiatic-Pacific and Victory Medals.

Survivors include his wife; and a sister, Freda Howell of Charleston.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home after 4:30 p.m. Sunday. A prayer service will be held at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Henry's Church, with the Rev. Rich Lause officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery near Charleston.
