JACKSON -- Retired Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Arthur L. Andrews, 62, of Atlanta, Ga., died Saturday, Oct. 26, 1996, in Atlanta. He was born March 9, 1934, in Boston, Mass., son of Arthur L. and Marguerite Andrews. Andrews enlisted in the Air Force in 1953 and during his more than 30 years of service was assigned to 15 bases in eight states and four foreign countries. JACKSON -- Retired Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Arthur L. Andrews, 62, of Atlanta, Ga., died Saturday, Oct. 26, 1996, in Atlanta.

He was born March 9, 1934, in Boston, Mass., son of Arthur L. and Marguerite Andrews.

Andrews enlisted in the Air Force in 1953 and during his more than 30 years of service was assigned to 15 bases in eight states and four foreign countries. He performed duties in law enforcement and as a first sergeant.

He served as senior enlisted adviser to the commander of the Electronic Systems Division at Hanscom Air Force Base, and as senior enlisted adviser to the commander of Air Force Systems Command at Andrews Air Force Base.

Andrews was adviser to the secretary and chief of staff of the air Force from August 1981 to July 1983, on matters concerning health, welfare and effective utilization of the enlisted members of the Air Force.

He received the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with one oak leaf cluster, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and Humanitarian Service Medal.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Eakins of Jackson; a sister, Louise Roidoulis of Boston; a brother, John Andrews of Boston; and two granddaughters.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday.

Funeral Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Msgr. Edward Eftink officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
