DR. ROBERT FRAZIER

SIKESTON -- Dr. Robert L. Frazier, 69, of Sikeston died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was a staff physician at Sikeston Regional Center and Southeast Missouri Residential Services.

Frazier was born March 18, 1927, in Success, Ark., son of William Edgar and Beatrice Kathleen McCracken Frazier. He and Mary Anna Watkins were married in 1949. She died in 1971. He later married Jeanette Caldwell Waldman May 9, 1975, at Charleston.

Frazier graduated from Central Methodist College at Fayette in 1949, received a master's degree in zoology from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1951, a bachelor of science degree in medicine from UMC in 1953, and a medical degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1955.

He was in private practice from 1957-79 in East Prairie and Charleston. He served as chief of staff at St. Mary's Hospital in Cairo, Ill., from 1967-69; was emergency room physician at Missouri Delta Medical Center from 1979-87; was director of medical services for Sikeston Regional Center and medical director at Sikeston Convalescent Center from 1979-83.

Frazier was medical consultant for Social Security Administration for Disability Determinations, and medical director for Cancer Screening Center at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Charleston, Mississippi County Historical Society, Missouri Council of the Arts, American Cancer Society, American Medical Association, Missouri Association of Family Practice, American Association of Family Practice, and Missouri State Medical Association.

Frazier served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Richard Frazier of Singapore, Scott Frazier of the Netherlands, Mark Frazier of Kansas City; two daughters, Kathleen Jenkins and Beth Frazier of Springfield; two stepdaughters, Paula Durham of Nashville, Tenn., Beth Lowney of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, W. Ransom Frazier of Holland, Pa., Richard Frazier of Marietta, Ga.; three sisters, Jo Ann Downs of Charleston, Bette Galemore of Cape Girardeau, Jean Mehler of Melbourne, Fla.; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today, and Saturday at First United Methodist Church from noon to service time.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Charles E. Buck officiating. Fred Durham will read the eulogy. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
