Russell George Siebert, 90, 3120 Independence, died Thursday, April 13, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 17, 1904, at Farmington, son of Simon P. and Emma Herter Siebert. He and the former Virginia Hoeller were married Aug. 20, 1929, in Cape Girardeau.

Siebert's family moved here when he was 8 years old. He attended St. Vincent's School, graduated from Central High School in 1921 and from Cape Girardeau Business College in 1922. He then entered the family shoe business with his father.

He retired in 1965 after 43 years in the business. He was active in the Downtown Merchants group and was treasurer a number of years. He was the oldest surviving former Main Street businessman.

Siebert was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, and charter member and past officer of St. Vincent's charitable organization. He was a member of KC Council 1111, charter member of St. Francis Hospital men's volunteer group, and past member of Kiwanis Club.

He was honored in 1973 by Missouri Hospital Association as Auxiliary Man of the Year. In 1992 he received a plaque as one of the founders of Men of St. Francis Foundation for 22 years work in microfilm records.

Siebert continued his volunteer work after retirement.

Survivors include his wife, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with Msgr. Richard Rolwing officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

There is no visitation.

Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
