E. Christine Hathaway, 77, 3134 Dogwood, died Tuesday, April 25, 1995, at her home.

She was born Aug. 8, 1917, in Moulton, Ala., daughter of Preuit and Ora Hodges Simms. She and Dr. Lynn W. Hathaway were married July 12, 1941, in Auburn, Ala. He died May 30, 1988.

Hathaway attended the University of Montevallo and graduated in 1941 from Auburn University. She worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 1941-44. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, St. Francis Medical Center Auxiliary, and Rodney Vista Homemakers.

Survivors include a son, Bob Hathaway of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Linda Hathaway of Decatur, Ala., Martha Hathaway of Nashville, Tenn., and a brother, Ed Simms of Decatur.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 6-8 p.m. today. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m., with the Revs. Neil Stein and Jeffrey Sippy officiating.

Friends may also call at Brown Funeral Home in Decatur from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Burning Tree Memorial Gardens in Decatur.
