CHARLESTON -- Tillie McPheeters, 95, of Charleston, died Wednesday, May 3, 1995, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. She was born June 14, 1899, in Warrenton, daughter of Fred and Emma Louise Fahrmeyer Witt. She and L.B. McPheeters were married Feb. 27, 1932. He died Oct. 17, 1977...

CHARLESTON -- Tillie McPheeters, 95, of Charleston, died Wednesday, May 3, 1995, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born June 14, 1899, in Warrenton, daughter of Fred and Emma Louise Fahrmeyer Witt. She and L.B. McPheeters were married Feb. 27, 1932. He died Oct. 17, 1977.

McPheeters was a graduate of St. Louis City Hospital School of Nursing, and post graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Nursing.

She was a public health nurse in Scott County from 1932-37. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Charleston and past president of its United Methodist Women, member of Order of Eastern Star and former worthy matron, was an honorary lab technician at Missouri Delta Medical Center, an honorary deputy with Scott County Sheriff's Department, and organized Ms. Tillie's Birthday Club. McPheeters was named Charleston Woman of the Year in 1990.

Survivors include a son, L.B. McPheeters Jr. of Huntsville, Ala.; a daughter, Ann Lewis of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Helen Schmidtke of Arlington, Va.; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, seven half brothers and a stepsister.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Richard Combs officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
