BERTHA GIPSON

SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Bertha Gipson of Sikeston will be held at 2 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home. The Rev. Johnny Hester will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Gipson, 87, died Tuesday, June 13, 1995, at Sikeston Health Care.

She was born Jan. 27, 1908, in Polk County, Ark., daughter of English and Bessie Nance Stobaugh. She and Jonas Hilyard Gipson were married Dec. 30, 1925. He died in October 1963.

Gipson had worked at International Shoe Co., Lambert's Cafe, and the Cream Castle.

Survivors include a son, Howard Gipson of Sikeston; three sisters, Geraldine Montgomery of Sikeston, Alene Tilly of St. Louis, Betty McCall of Mayfield, Ky.; a grandson and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
