THEBES, Ill. -- Mattie Ellen Garrett, 83, of Momence, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 1995, at St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee. She was born Dec. 2, 1911, in Missouri, daughter of George and Matilda Whitlock. She and Arthur Garrett were married Feb. 23, 1930, in Cairo. He preceded her in death...

THEBES, Ill. -- Mattie Ellen Garrett, 83, of Momence, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 1995, at St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee.

She was born Dec. 2, 1911, in Missouri, daughter of George and Matilda Whitlock. She and Arthur Garrett were married Feb. 23, 1930, in Cairo. He preceded her in death.

Garrett was a member of New Life Christian Fellowship Church and Momence Senior Citizens.

Survivors include four daughters, Linda Linn and Wanda Kutsch of Momence, Mary Kannberg of Peotone, Juanita Henderson of Olive Branch; two sisters, Ruby Andrews of Mt. Vernon, Dolly McReynolds of Evansville, Ind.; 30 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at New Christian Church in Momence, with the Rev. Dan Taylor officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.
