THEBES, Ill. -- Kenneth Dee "Buttons" Calvert, 68, of Royalton, formerly of Thebes, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 1995, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
He was born Oct. 9, 1926, in Gale, son of Kenneth Dee and Lou Etta Jackson Calvert. He and Zena Rose Conant were married Sept. 30, 1966, in Mt. Vernon. She died March 17, 1994.
Calvert was a retired truck driver, and had been a trustee of Royalton village since 1982. He was a member of VFW and Lions Club in Royalton. He attended First Christian Church in Royalton, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Calvert of Olive Branch, Terry and Michael Calvert of Royalton; three daughters, Sherri Marlo of Westhampton, N.J., Sharon Ruff of Beale Air Force Base, Calif., Angela Calvert of Valier; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call at Vantrease Funeral Home in Royalton from 6-9 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jack Smith officiating. Burial will be in Miners Cemetery at Royalton.
