SIKESTON -- Archie Newton, 68, of Sikeston and formerly of St. Louis, died Tuesday Feb. 14, 1995, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 9, 1926, at Clarksville, Ark., the son of John Oscar and Bertha Lee Johnson Newton.

For 19 years he was an office clerk for Service Box Paper Co. in St. Louis. In 1985 he retired from the company and moved to Sikeston.

Survivors include two brothers, Earl Newton of Arkadelphia, Ark., and James L. Newton of Deere Island, Oregon; four sisters, Ila Elliott of Florissant, Laura Christine Taylor of St. Louis, Florence Christie of Sikeston, and Jean Kaiser of Cape Girardeau; and one half-sister, Jewell Lovelady of Dover, Ark.

A brother and a half-brother preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel. The Rev. Billie Butler will officiate, and burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
