SCOTT CITY -- L.H. Shipman, 77, of Scott City died Friday, Feb. 17, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born June 16, 1917, at Vanduser, the son of Aubrey Cameron and Edith Schatz Shipman. He and Margaret Hill were married Dec. 31, 1941, in Cape Girardeau...

SCOTT CITY -- L.H. Shipman, 77, of Scott City died Friday, Feb. 17, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 16, 1917, at Vanduser, the son of Aubrey Cameron and Edith Schatz Shipman. He and Margaret Hill were married Dec. 31, 1941, in Cape Girardeau.

He retired after 38 years as an engineer for the Cotton Belt Railroad in 1979. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, H.O. Grauel Masonic Lodge 672, Eagles Lodge and the SEMO Shrine Club, all of Cape Girardeau, the Moolah Shrine Temple of St. Louis, Scott City VFW Post 6407, Chaffee Elks Lodge 1810 and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

Survivors include his wife of Scott City, and a sister, Helen Reynolds of Vienna, Ill.

A brother preceded him in death.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday. A Masonic service will be at 7 p.m.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Christ Episcopal Church in Cape Girardeau. Father Brant Hazlett will officiate, and graveside military rites will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau by the Scott City VFW Post 6407.
