DELMER JONES

SIKESTON -- Delmer Jones, 72, of Sikeston, died Wednesday, March 8, 1995, at his home.

He was born April 6, 1922, in Corning, Ark., son of Robert Elmer and Mary Lourana Flanigan Jones. He and Pauline Hodges were married May 5, 1943, in New Madrid.

Jones was a maintenance foreman and plumber with Missouri State Hospital in St. Louis 17 years, had worked for Loyd Williams Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning Co., and had also farmed. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, James Jones of Imperial, Robert Jones of St. Louis; three daughters, Barbara Wren of Hiram, Christine Williams of Barnhart, Jeanette Wagner of Florissant; eight brothers, Newton Jones of Bakersfield, Calif., Bill Jones of Ively, Ga., Gerald Jones of Linden, Mich., Desmond Jones of Flint, Mich., Kenneth Jones of Las Vegas, Nev., Clifford Jones of Ore City, Texas, Lloyd Phillips of High Ridge, Warren Smith of Delaplaine, Ark.; five sisters, Leveda Williams, Glenna Merrell, Mary Brewer and Eula Hubbard, all of Sikeston, Elizabeth Lewis of Qulin; 14 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Keith Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
