AVA MARIE HOLIFIELD

NEELYS LANDING -- Ava Marie Holifield, 81, of Neelys Landing died Saturday, March 11, 1995, at the home of her daughter in Millersville.

She was born June 1, 1913, at Neelys Landing, daughter of Robert E. and Mary McCain Rumfelt.

She was married to Ernest Cathcart.

She later married Clarence Holifield in 1951. He preceded her in death in 1965. She worked for International Shoe Co. in Jackson, and was a Baptist.

Survivors include two sons, Don Cathcart of Jackson and Troy Holifield of Jefferson City; six daughters, Mary Loos and Dorothy "Dot" Schlegel, both of Jackson, Margie Stroder and Lena Johnston, both of Millersville, Betty Joan Pickens of Marble Hill and Jerry McHugh of Salem, Ore.; two brothers, Alonzo Rumfelt of California and Milo Rumfelt of Hillsboro, Vir.; four sisters, Grace Norton of Grand Tower, Ill., Hannah Cotner and Jo Ann Johnston, both of Cape Girardeau, and Hallie Pinkerton of Jackson; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, four brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson, where funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Jerry Sander and the Rev. Don Sander will officiate with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
