ESTELLA V. THORNE

JACKSON -- Estella V. Thorne, 82, of Jackson, died Monday, March 13, 1995, at Heartland Care Rehab Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born May 22, 1912, near Burfordville, daughter of Francis "Frank" and Hester Meadows Howard. She and Otto Thorne were married Oct. 15, 1930. He died May 7, 1974.

Thorne had worked at Brown Shoe Co. and Kroger Bakery in St. Louis, and at the former Helderman Orchard near Burfordville.

Survivors include a son, Tommy Thorne of Oak Ridge; two daughters, Dorris Cooper of Chaffee, LaWanda Boyer of Oak Ridge; a sister, Pansy Eakins of Jackson; 12 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at McCombs Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Raymond Epps officiating.

Friends may call Thursday at the chapel from 10 a.m. to service time.
